Vacation Pictures (Dominica + Cruise)

Dominica is a beautiful island of natural beauty. It has one of the rare boiling lakes. However, unless you are up for 6 hours of hiking through the Valley of Desolation, it is inaccessible. As a result, we only went to see the shops.

Since that isn't much of a view of the island, here are a few pictures from the cruise. The picture with Jack Daniels is at the duty free store in San Juan.

Father's Day at Firestone

Derek's dad mentioned a while back that he wanted a Firestone Country Club shirt. On Father's Day, before we went to the Pufferbelly in Kent, we snuck out in the morning to go in person. Here are a couple of pictures taken at the golf course.

Vacation Pictures (St. Thomas, USVI)

On day 2 of our vacation, we visited St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.

There is not a lot to do in St. Thomas. In fact, one of the women we saw was visiting her sister and her kids had to wait until the cruise ships arrived because she said everything closes when the ships aren't in port.

We rode the SkyRide to the top of the hill where we could see the entire port area. They have a bar and a couple of shops up there so we had a beer and headed back down.

Vacation Pictures (San Juan)

We are finally making progress in posting pictures from vacation. This one is from San Juan before we left the terminal. We are on the top deck of the ship looking across the port area.

A Terrifying Weekend for Angie

Not really... We rode the train through the national park again and they had some various furs to show. I talked the ranger into giving Angie a close up look at a coyote and stood ready with the camera.

More pictures to follow later.

Grandpa Cahill

As you may already know, Grandpa (Tim) Cahill died yesterday. We were thankful to have arrived back from vacation in time to see him one last time and to be there when he went.

It would be impossible to do justice to nearly 86 years in this short space so, for now, I will just let everyone know that he was the best grandpa anyone could have had.

His 86th Birthday would have been in a couple of weeks, on June 31st. Here is the video from his last birthday. When we called on our way, we asked him where he wanted to eat. We had been assuming Olive Garden as it was his favorite restaurant. However, he surprised us with Bob Evans. This caused a bit of a panic as they don't have any embarassing songs or entertainment. Thankfully, when we got to the house, he told us that he changed his mind and wanted Olive Garden instead. Unfortunately, in order to keep the element of surprise, I couldn't start recording until they were at the table. Missing from the beginning is, "I'm gonna get you for this."

The obituary and funeral arrangements can be found at Schneider Funeral Home.

We made a short movie to show what we've been up to over the past year. Enjoy!

In New York

We are in New York (JFK) waiting for our connecting flight.

Fortunately, we are able to sample some of what makes New York great right here in terminal 5. Incidentally, terminal 5 is itself a major part of New York history.

Anniversary Gifts

Since we are going on vacation, we decided to give each other our presents early. Angie got Derek a picture of Sydney Harbour Bridge in a frame. Here is the picture:

Derek got Angie a "paper cut" from Paper Cuts by Joe. This is a hand cut black piece of paper mounted on white matte. Here is what it looks like.

Here is a video on how they are made.

Belterra

We went to Belterra on Wednesday for a business meeting. Nice dinner and a good time. Angie won $1.25 on video roulette and Derek won $45 at blackjack.
